5 signs it’s time to give therapy a try

Therapy can be a life-changing experience because seeing a counsellor can help you understand your issues by developing your self-awareness.

It bothers me that people see it as the last resort, or that their not struggling enough to have it.

Getting therapy for yourself isn’t being weak, in fact it’s the complete opposite!

When people decide to have therapy, it’s because they are fed up of feeling the way they do. Yes, they can cope with life but my God, it has to be better than this right?

Well yes, it can be better!

We’ve all got problems and how we deal with them is down to us. Counselling and Meditation can be used as tools to help work through them so that you don’t need to cope anymore because you can let go and move on.

If you relate to any of the below then it’s a good sign that therapy will help you.

1. You can’t stop feeling angry or sad.

If you find yourself in tears for no reason or lash out at others, your reactions could suggest that there’s something in your life that you need to face.

2. You are carrying out self-destructive behaviours.

Are you doing something mindless to avoid thinking about tasks, people, or memories? Like drinking too much, binging TV or always on Facebook.

3. You don’t feel like you are yourself.

Do you feel like a different person around your friends? That disconnect, often explained as having separate faces publicly and privately, is a sign that you may not feel in-touch with yourself. Therapy could help you find and express your true self.

4. You struggle with relationships.

Do you keep friends or family at a distance? This can relate to trust and self-esteem stopping you from being able to connect with people.

5. You do not have control over your thoughts.

Are you constantly worrying about the future, or thinking about the past? This can lead to many sleepless nights, which only makes you tired and adds to your list of woes.
